USA W8+ and W4- Selection Camp

 2021 World Championships

For 20 years the United States Women’s Team has been dominant on the Global Stage.  During this time the Women’s 8+ has been the dominant boat class winning 3 Gold and 2 Silver Olympic medals and winning the World Championships 13 times including a dynastic win streak that lasted 11 years.  In 2018 the 8+ and 4- won Gold and 2019 the 8+ won Bronze.

With the Tokyo 2020 Olympic games shifting to 2021, USRowing is asking Training Center Partners around the country to support, select and train the 2021 US World Championship Team.

For the first time in history the waterways of the Washington, DC metro area will host the USRowing World Championship Team Camp for the Women’s 8+ and Women's 4-, as they prepare for the World Championships in Shanghai, China in October of  2021.

Potomac Boat Club, Potomac River Sports Foundation and NOVA Parks - Sandy Run are teaming to host the Selection and Training for the 2021 World Championships.

By having the athletes step into a World Class city, with a strong rowing community and incredible rowing facilities,  the athletes will be able to maximize their training and lay the foundation for the 2021-2024 Olympic Quadrennial.

OLYMPISM IS A PHILOSOPHY OF LIFE, EXALTING AND COMBINING IN A BALANCED WHOLE THE QUALITIES OF BODY, WILL AND MIND. BLENDING SPORT WITH CULTURE AND EDUCATION, OLYMPISM SEEKS TO CREATE A WAY OF LIFE BASED ON THE JOY FOUND IN EFFORT, THE EDUCATIONAL VALUE OF GOOD EXAMPLE AND RESPECT FOR UNIVERSAL FUNDAMENTAL ETHICAL PRINCIPLES.

-International Olympic Committee

It is exciting to bring the Olympic Movement and the athletes competing who will have just finished competing in Tokyo 2020 and those looking towards competing and medaling at Paris 2024 to the DC area.

We are asking for community support to do this.  Whether it is a major donation, a small contribution, we are working as a community to fund this effort.  Specifically, paying for flights, room and board during training and at competition takes the olympic effort of the community.  Please donate through this website and check back often for updates.
